Mercy Bridges, a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, provides basic literacy services and English as a Second Language for adults. Sisters, Associates, and friends of Mercy teach those who may not qualify for, have access to, or success with other literacy programs. Mercy Bridges collaborates with other Mercy ministries and community literacy agencies.

Wish List:

  • copy/printer paper (white)
  • envelopes, white #10, self-sealing
  • gift cards:  Wegmans, Target, Dollar Tree
  • new ink/toner cartridges:  HP 78A,
    Canon 104, 120 (black), ink 241XL (black and color)
  • postage stamps (Forever flag stamps) 
  • used ink and toner cartridges, any size, for recycling
  • space for tutoring

Volunteers Needed:
  • Tutors* (all year long) to help adults learn English, and help special-needs adults learn to read, write, and navigate in the community.

  • Helpers for our Annual Field of Honor® event in September.
    -  Flag Sales Chairman
    -  Social Media person to promote Mercy Bridges events
    -  Vigil Field Coordinator for Field of Honor®

    *Tutors must be age 21 and older with a minimum of a high school diploma. No prior teaching experience required (although current and retired teachers are encouraged to apply). There are two 3-hour training program for new tutors consisting of four 3-hour sessions for specific areas of training.
